Meredith Mears - Chief Development Officer
Meredith Mears is the Chief Development Officer of Gillis Gilkerson, and is an Advisor with Sperry Van Ness – Miller Commercial Real Estate in Salisbury, Maryland. Mears has more than 15 years of experience in economic, real estate and community development, and internal organizational/company growth. Sharing a passion for real estate development & building communities in ways that will ultimately benefit economic modernization, Mears remains involved in initiatives that support growth of businesses and social well-being of communities. She has structured a variety of business transactions with the commitment to move deals forward, and has served in several leadership capacities to grow the organizations and companies she serves.
Mears is former director of economic development for Worcester County, Maryland, providing leadership for business attraction, expansion & retention efforts while executing job creation strategy in the County. Mears has also served as the workforce division director for the Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, where she oversaw a $1 million budget for workforce development services in the region.
As a member of Leadership Maryland, Mears is among a selected group of Maryland’s best and brightest leaders enlisted to create actionable, positive change in their communities. She has held seats on several Boards of Directors including the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA), the MEDA Foundation and Maryland Capital Enterprises. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with a concentration in marketing from Salisbury University.
