Wicomico Yacht Club
In December, 2016 a two-alarm kitchen fire badly damaged the Wicomico Yacht Club causing extensive damage to the facility’s 5,000 square foot main building. It was estimated the club house suffered $300,000 in damage to the structure and another $200,000 to its contents.
Gillis Gilkerson was hired to rebuild the structure. The team elevated the new building six feet to sit above the flood point and meet code requirements. The project included a new dining area, restrooms, and an indoor bar and modern commercial kitchen. A deck and cantilevered walkway surround the perimeter of the club house. A wheelchair lift was also installed on the outside of the building.

“If it wasn’t for the help from Gillis Gilkerson, I wouldn’t be able to get out of my house. From the wheelchair ramp to the handrail, the company made it possible for me to walk outside my home. I can’t thank them enough for their time, effort and patience.”
~ Elizabeth Anderson,
“The original roof was only seven years old so finding out that we needed a whole new roof – the hard way – was disappointing. The team from Gillis Gilkerson addressed every single concern we had from the very beginning. They even called me on July 4th when we had bad storms in the area and asked if they could get inside the church to make sure everything was safe and secure. Now that’s commitment.”
~ Bruce Glisson,
Allen Memorial Baptist Church
