Gillis Gilkerson Hired for Site Improvements & Façade Renovations to 600 Glen Avenue in Salisbury

Redevelopment will improve aesthetics and performance of building for new occupant

SALISBURY, MD – September 26, 2018 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted Construction Management and General Contracting firms on Delmarva, today announced it has been hired for site improvements and exterior renovations to the former site of Labinal Power Systems, a 160,000 square foot building on 12-acres at 600 Glen Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland.

Phase one of the project will cover 60,000 square feet and phase two, the additional 100,000 square feet.  Gillis Gilkerson will work from a new site plan with landscaping and parking and provide all new exterior renovations including storefront windows and doors along the front face of the building.

Who’s moving in? 

Pure Family Fitness, a new family athletic club, will occupy 60,000 square feet of the building.  Owners say it will be the first family fitness facility of its size on the Eastern Shore.

“We will have a seven lane pool, racquetball court, basketball court, golf simulator, two weight room floors, a turf area, juice bar and tanning beds,” said Tony Taghipour, owner.  “We are designating 1,500 square feet of space to a kid’s area because we know the challenges of working families and making time to get into the gym.”

Project manager Colby Bounds and superintendent Dan Horseman are on schedule to complete the renovations in four months.    

“This redevelopment will breathe new life into 600 Glen Ave, a prime location,” said Chris Gilkerson, Gillis Gilkerson developer.  “Not only will it attract new business and economic development to Salisbury, it also provides an opportunity for us as developers to identify uses for the property that can serve the needs of our community.”
