Gillis Gilkerson Starts Brandywine Village Apartments Renovation
SALISBURY, MD – February 5, 2019 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted Construction Management, General Contracting and Development firms on Delmarva, today announced it has started renovations to the 60,000 square foot Brandywine Village Apartment Complex located between Case Lane and Edwards Boulevard in Millsboro, Delaware.
“This is the 9th affordable housing project we have worked on with Severn Development Company,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson. “We are anxious to see the renovations transform the Brandywine Village community and surrounding neighborhood which will add to the quality of life for the residents.”
The project includes renovations to seven apartment buildings (8 units in each) and a 2,278 square foot newly constructed community building. Exterior renovations include new siding, roofing, steps, patios, windows, doors, sidewalks and paving. Interior upgrades will be made to the plumbing, HVAC, lighting, finishes, cabinets and appliances.
“Originally built back in the 80’s, Brandywine Village Apartments are in need of some necessary upgrades,” said Spencer Leech, vice president of Severn Development Company. “The units will carry the Energy Star Rating and renovations will make them more accessible to residents. From past experience, we are confident Gillis Gilkerson will be diligent with cost control and time performance of the project.”
Project manager Robin Steininger and superintendent Tim Swift project the project will be completed by February, 2020.
